Overview

This collection documents the life and work of Paul Haubenreich. The collections includes some personal material pertaining to Haubenreich's family and religious activities. The collection also contains photographs and papers pertaining to his time working at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, mostly about the Large Coil Task/Technology.

Biographical / Historical

Paul Nelson Haubenreich was born on June 25, 1925 in Decherd, Tennessee. He joined the U.S.Army when he turned 18 in 1943. During World War II, he served as a combat infantryman and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star after being wounded in Germany. He attended the University of Tennessee to study Mechanical Engineering and received his BS in 1950 and MS in 1955. He also attended Oak Ridge School of Reactor Technology. He married Mary Ann Walker (1929-2021) in June 1951 and together they had five children. Haubenreich worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory for 40 years and retired in 1991. He died on April 5, 2015 and is buried in East Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery.

The collection is in three boxes. The material is organized by subject and the files are arranged alphabetically with oversize material placed at the end in the second box.
