Biographical / Historical
In the 1880s, members of First Baptist Church, located in downtown Knoxville, desired to start a church in the North Knoxville area. By 1885, they had established a Baptist church with Dr. O. L. Hailey has the first pastor. It was first known as Calvary, then Second Baptist Church, and finally in 1905 the Broadway Baptist Church.
