Biographical / Historical
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, an annual festival held in Manchester, Tennessee, began in 2002. It was developed by Ashley Capps in response to the shutting down of the Hot Summer Nights Music Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1999. The festival has been held annually with the exception of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and 2021 due to flooding from Hurricane Ida. The festivals of 2012 and 2019 saw the largest crowds with approximately 100,000 people in attendance.
