Abstract

This diploma certifies that the East Tennessee Female Institute conferred the degree of Mistress of Polite Literature on Naomi J. White on February 27, 1851.

Biographical/Historical Note

Naomi Jane White was born on January 11, 1835. She earned a Mistress of Polite Literature degree at the East Tennessee Female Institute in 1851. She died on September 3, 1854 and is buried in Knoxville's Old Gray Cemetery.
