This collection is comprised of promotional materials such as business cards, calendars, and publications produced by or about Sundress Academy for the Arts (SAFTA); materials regarding the business and networking of SAFTA; as well as correspondence describing the experience at SAFTA, and some untitled illustrations. Half of the materials are undated, and half range from 2014-2020 with the bulk being produced between 2014-2016, and centered around Hardin Valley and the broader Knoxville area. Subjects encompassed by this collection are literature, writers’ retreats, authorship, arts communities, community networking, local and regional arts and literature, and business relations.

Biographical / Historical

The Sundress Academy for the Arts (SAFTA) is a writers’ retreat located on a 45-acre farm in Knoxville, Tennessee that that offers two short-term residencies to writers in all genres including poetry, fiction, nonfiction, journalism, screenwriting, academic writing, and more. SAFTA also hosts the Sundress Workshop Series, which is a series of creative arts workshops emphasizing composition, revision, and creative development. As part of Sundress Publications, the Sundress Workshop Series provides focused, personalized instruction to writers of all skill levels. SAFTA seeks to foster relationships with other regional artistic communities and non-profits to strengthen relationships and collaboration between artists of all disciplines (http://www.sundresspublications.com/safta).

Arrangement

This collection is in one folder. The material is divided into two series that span three folders: Series I: The Sundress Experience and Business Relations; 2016, circa 2020, undated, and Series II: Press and Publications; 2014-2020. Series II is further conceptually divided into two folders: publications produced about SAFTA, and publications produced by SAFTA.
