Elizabeth K. Rogers Collection
This collection includes photographs and correspondence documenting Elizabeth K. Rogers’s time serving as a nurse during World War II. The photographs depict Rogers alongside other nurses while stateside, serving in France, and aboard their ship back to the United States following the end of the war. The letters include handwritten, typewritten, and V-mail correspondence between Rogers and her mother, Mrs. E. B. Rogers of Sevierville, during the war, particularly while Rogers was stationed in France.

Biographical / Historical
Elizabeth Katerine Rogers King was born January 14, 1909, in Tennessee. By 1940, she was working as a nurse with the Veterans Administration Mountain Home in Johnson City. She enlisted with the military in 1943 and spent the majority of her World War II service as a nurse in France. Around 1960, Rogers married Walter Guy King (1922-1985). She passed away on August 6, 1985, and is buried in Berkeley County, West Virginia.
