Francis T. Mooney Papers
This collection documents Francis Mooney's time as a pilot with the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II. Included is a transcript of an interview conducted with Mooney (by his son Francis Mooney Jr.) in 1983 detailing Mooney’s WWII experiences. The transcript is a 95-page typescript and does include some handwritten edits. Also included in this collection are photocopies of photographs of Mooney from 1944-1945, largely depicting him with planes during his time in France, and a copy of “The Odyssey of the 324th Fighter Group” (photocopy), originally published in 1945.

Biographical / Historical
Francis T. Mooney Sr. was born in Delaware in 1923 to Timothy J. and Alice Haley Mooney. He served with the US Army Air Forces during World War II as a P-47 pilot in the European Theater of War. Mooney died in 2014 and is buried in New Castle County, Delaware.
