This collection consists of items related to Robert Newcomb’s World War II military service, especially with the Lodwick Aviation Military Academy (LAMA) including Newcomb’s diploma from 1944 and a copy of a LAMA yearbook for the 61st Army Air Force flying training detachment. Also included are two photos of Newcomb and a plane at Cochran Field in Macon, Georgia, from 1944. All items in this collection are photocopies.

Biographical / Historical

Robert Daniel Newcomb was born December 1922 in Massachusetts. Newcomb served with the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. Newcomb died in 1985 and is buried in Stewart County, Tennessee.

The Lodwick Aviation Military Academy operated in Avon Park, Florida, in the 1940s.
