John Karoly Papers
This collection consists of photographs, patches, letters, newspaper articles, and publications related to John (Gus) Karoly, a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II.
The letters are written to Karoly during and after his time in the war. One publication, "Second Air Division Memorial, 8th U.S.A.A.F." (1963), contains information concerning the library memorial that Karoly was involved with establishing in Norwich, England. The other publication "Target: Germany" (1943), is the Army Air Forces’ official story of the World War II bomber command’s first year over Europe.

Biographical / Historical
John P. Karoly was a member of the 2nd Air Division of the 8th Air Force. During World War Two, the division was stationed at East Anglia, near Norwich, England.
Karoly was married to Naida Karoly, and together they had two children, John Peter and Naida Louise.
A new library was built in Norwich, with a special room built in memory of the deceased from Karoly's division. Karoly played a role in this assignment by gathering stones from each state in the union and have them flown to England.
