Biographical / Historical
Sergeant James Edwin Summers (sometimes listed with Jr. suffix) fought in the European Theater of World War II, most likely as a 393 D Infantryman. He was born to James E. Summers and Nanny Virginia Tomlinson Summers on August 6, 1920, in Selma, Virginia. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 30, 1942. He was discharged on January 27, 1946. Summers married Wanda Margaret Willey Summers (1925–2010). Summers died on December 17, 1979, and is buried in Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Tennessee.
