Biographical / Historical
Chaplain John E. Stauffer was pastor of Central Presbyterian Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a native of Buckingham County, Virginia, and worked throughout the Southeast in Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee. He came to Knoxville in 1952 to serve as pastor at Little Brick Presbyterian Church and retired in 1964. He has three children: John E. Stauffer Jr., Nina Stauffer Caughlin, and Dora Jane Stauffer Davidson.
