Overview

This collection documents Mack Day's World War II military service in the European Theater of War. The collection contains correspondence, approximately 160 photographs, maps, souvenir cards, and military documents particularly from Day's time in France.

Biographical / Historical

Victor McClean "Mack" Day II fought in the European Theater of World War II. Day was born on November 28, 1923, in Mamaroneck, New York. After graduating from the New York Military Academy, Mack joined the U.S. Army and fought in the 3rd Infantry Regiment as First Sergeant. After World War II, he fought in the Korean War as a Commissioned Officer. Upon his military discharge, Day worked with Wometco International and Pepsi Cola Bottling Operation. Day was married to Jonnie Day (1924-2014). Day died on June 16, 2011, and is buried in Martin County, Florida.
