This collection contains a typed memoir manuscript from Don Loth. Approximately 55 pages, the memoir details Loth's experiences in the military with the 12th Armored Division Hellcats during and after World War II.

Biographical / Historical

Don G. Loth was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 6, 1923. He and his twin brother, Doug, were inducted into the U.S. Army at Fort Snelling on June 7, 1943. After training in Kansas, Minnesota, and East Texas, Loth and his brother were sent abroad to Europe. In addition to his World War II service, Loth served in the Korean War. Following the war, Loth graduated from the University of Minnesota. Don married Pat Stevens Loth (1927-2020) in 1949 and together they had four children. Loth died in Tacoma, Washington, on November 24, 2011.
