Biographical / Historical
Frederick E. Dearing Jr. was born in Prairie Hill, Texas, on December 21, 1919. Dearing served as a lead navigator in the 8th Air Force, 388th Bomb Group, in the European Theater of World War II, largely stationed at Knettishall, England. He was taken as a prisoner of war when his aircraft crashed in Borkum, Germany, on December 31, 1944. Dearing was later liberated by General Patton and returned home. Dearing married Lena Lois Dearing (1922-2014) and together they had three children. He died on March 6, 1995, and is buried in Knox County.
