Biographical / Historical
Owen Frederick Tabrum was born in Canada on April 15, 1920, To Ernest Robert and Helen Gertrude Rannard Tabrum. Tabrum served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater of World War II. During his service, he and twenty-one other men were shot down in the carrier raid on Truk. He was rescued by one of the most decorated submarines, the USS Tang, and was taken to Pearl Harbor. Tabrum married Iris Virginia Slanker (1916-1965) in 1950. He died on March 19, 2000, in Lincoln City, Oregon.
