Biographical/Historical Note

John Wesley Wester was born to Daniel and Elizabeth (Lloyd) Wester on January 2, 1805. When he was five years old, his family moved to Kingston, Tennessee. For most of his life, Wester worked as a physician. He married Mary Jane Brown (1816-1843) on March 26, 1836 and the couple had two children: John Wesley and Sarah Brown (Wester) Love. After his first wife's death, Wester married Catherine Jane Allison (1822-1864), with whom he had an additional nine children: Ephraim Foster, Josephine Mariah (Wester) Wester, John M., Catherine Ann (Wester) Miles Hathaway, Alice (Wester) Kendrick Crowder, Adelaide Victoria (Wester) King, Edith May, Margaret Hamilton (Wester) Erwin, and Annie Maud (Wester) McNutt. John Wester died on February 28, 1875 and is buried in the Bethel Cemetery in Kingston, Tennessee.
