Overview
The Eaton W. Bennett Collection consists of three folders, which contain maps of Okinawa, a History of the 233rd General Hospital (1945), and assorted materials such as a menu, bulletin, and maps.
Biographical / Historical
Eaton Wesley Bennett was born December 1, 1906, in Troy, Tennessee. Bennett earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee and then joined the Army Medical Corps in 1933. During World War II, Bennett commanded hospitals, including the 9th General Hospital, in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from the Army in 1956 and went on to work in hospitals in California and Arkansas. He was married to Louise Ogden (1907-2002). Bennett died December 9, 1996, and is buried in Pulaski County, Arkansas.
