This collection is the typed World War II diary of Gene Conlee. The diary, entitled “Across the Cotton Patch …Then Beyond,” begins in September 1943 and follows regular entries through July 1945. Biographical / Historical
Gene Powell Conlee was born June 24, 1925, in Pontotoc County, Mississippi. Conlee was drafted in the U.S. Army and served in the Italian campaign of the European Theater of World War II. Conlee died October 20, 2000, and is buried in Pontotoc County.
