Abstract

This collection houses seven volumes documenting experiments that chemical consultant John Fuzek performed while working at the Hercules Powder Company and at the North American Rayon Company.

Biographical/Historical Note

John F. Fuzek was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on December 21, 1921. He was educated at the University of Tennessee, where he earned his BS in Chemical Engineering in 1943, his MS in Physical Chemistry in 1945, and his PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1947. During his professional career, he worked as a chemist for the Hercules Powder Company (1943-1944), as a research chemist for the North American Rayon Corporation (1948-1955), as the head of the research physics department at Beaunit Fibers (1955-1966), as the senior research chemist for Tennessee Eastman Company (1966-1970), and as a research associate for Eastman Kodak Company (1970-1986). After his retirement, he worked as a consultant until his death on June 23, 2005.
