Abstract

Biographical/Historical Note
Dr. Michael A. Lofaro (b. 1948) has been teaching at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville since 1975. He received a bachelor's of science degree from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1970, and went on to the University of Maryland for his MA (1972) and PhD (1975). Dr. Lofaro has published many works on Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, and James Agee. From 1979 to 1983 he served as vice president and president of the Tennessee Folklore Society.
Arrangement
This collection consists of six boxes. The papers are arranged alphabetically by general topic. Unusual project topics may be found in Box 5 in a folder titled "Other." Cassette tapes are found in Box 6; any paper with a corresponding cassette tape will include an identifying number in parenthesis in the paper's file title. Some subject areas have been merged into single topics to simplify the arrangement:
