Biographical/Historical Note
Tellico Dam was built by the Tennessee Valley Authority in Loudon County, Tennessee. Completed in 1979, the building of Tellico Dam was met with controversy. A lawsuit was filed that alleged that the Tellico Dam construction violated Endangered Species Act due to the finding of an endangered fish in the area, the snail darter. TVA v. Hill was a United States Supreme Court case in 1978 and was the first time the court had interpreted the Endangered Species Act of 1973. After a lengthy battle, Tellico Dam was ultimately exempted from the Endangered Species Act.

Collection consists of two record boxes, two half boxes, and one flat storage box.
