Abstract
This collection houses a number of studio portraits taken by O. L. Hensley in Jonesboro, Tennessee. Although none of the images are identified, a few seem to have been used as samples in Hensley's business.
Biographical/Historical Note
Omar L. Hensley was born to Richard and Susan L. (Propes) Hensley in Tennessee in February of 1867. For most of his professional career, he worked as a photographer in Jonesboro (Washington County) Tennessee. Hensley married Mary Jane Keeble on September 6, 1893 and the couple had one daughter, Maude (Hensley) Stephenson, before Mary Hensley died of typhoid fever in 1895. Omar Hensley died on July 30, 1913 and is buried in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Jonesboro, Tennessee.
