Biographical/Historical Note
Claude Franklin Clayton was born on February 14, 1890. He began his professional career during the 1920s teaching at Arkansas State College and Michigan State College. He later worked for the U. S. Government, operating in such branches as the Department of Agriculture, the Resettlement Administration, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and the State Department. He retired in 1955, and died in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 15, 1968.
Clayton also wrote a book on his family's genealogy: Family notes and recollections (Knoxville, Tenn.: 1959).
