Most reached him while he was stationed at Camp Chase (November 1863 to February 1864) and at Camp Dennison (March 1864 to May 1865) during the Civil War.

Biographical/Historical Note

Albert B. Probert was born to James and Sarah (Davies) Probert in Marion County, Ohio on October 15, 1843. He was one of seven children, including Eliza (Probert) Freeman (1830-1910), John (1832-1890), George W. (1835-1899), James (1837-1867), David G. (1839-), and Sarah Victoria (Probert) Watkins (1841-1916). Albert Probert enlisted in Company F of the 12th Ohio Cavalry Regiment on October 6, 1863 and was promoted to Sergeant on December 18, 1863. He mustered out on June 5, 1865 at Camp Dennison, Ohio and returned to his family. Probert married Chastina Minerva Worcester in 1868, and the couple had three children, Merton Albert (1870-1949), Jessie (1879-1881), and Olive Marion (Probert) Dager (1881-1973). Albert Probert died on April 4, 1913 and is buried in East Pittsfield Cemetery in Ohio.
