Abstract

Biographical/Historical Note
Nellie Cynthia Stevens was born to Isaac and Elizabeth (Steele) Stevens in De Kalb, Illinois on December 31, 1865. She and her parents moved to Ocala, Florida in the late 1800s where Nellie Stevens taught school. Although she could not attend the Summer School of the South in 1903, she studied Literature, Drawing, Art, and Primary Education at the 1907 session. She also co-authored a book entitled Health is Wealth with Dr. H. F. Watt in 1916. Nellie Stevens died in Ocala on December 26, 1934.
