Biographical/Historical Note
Sacred harp singing, also known as “shape-note singing,” is a long-standing American music tradition. The tradition, which remains a part of American culture today, was formed as a way to teach music in an accessible way and to bring communities together. Shape note singing includes both spiritual and folk songs.

This collection is in a single box. The material is arranged into three series, according to format: Series I, Cassettes; Series II, CDs; Series III, Vinyl.
