Biographical/Historical Note
Johannes John Dedrick Kreis was born in Igis, Graubunden, Switzerland on August 16, 1820, to Jakob and Dorothea (Wieig) Kreis. He married Anna Elisabeth Kaufmann (1824-1904) in 1840 and the couple had five children: Anna (Kreis) Bardill (1845-1902), John Dedrick (1848-1933), Leonard G. (1851-1918), Deadrick (1854-1934), and Jacob Davis (1857-). The family imigrated to the United States in 1846 and settled in Morgan County, Tennessee. Kreis served as a Trustee of Morgan County from 1880 to 1886 and died on January 24, 1892.
