This collection includes two copies of a typed manuscript of David J. Harkness' "A Birthday Salute to Knoxville." One copy is an earlier draft with handwritten edits; the second copy is a final draft which includes the edits. The manuscript provides an overview of how Knoxville became a prosperous and influential city between the late 18th century and the late 20th century.
