William Jack & Sons Receipt, 1888 June 22

Scope and Contents Note From the Collection:

This collection contains a single receipt for tumblers dated June 22, 1888, from William Jack & Sons to J. M. Allen of Blue Springs, Mississippi. Allen purchased four cases of six dozen tumblers for two dollars each and was charged twenty-five cents for drayage, which was a low, heavy cart without sides, used for haulage.

This collection contains an undated photograph of the Horseshoe Bend in the Tennessee River at Knoxville, Tennessee. On the back of the photograph is an inscription which notes the famous Horseshoe Bend in the Tennessee River as seen from the Knoxville (Tenn.) Country Club. The photograph is torn at the sides and has a small tear at the top.

This collection contains a single stereoview photograph of Andrew Johnson's office in Greeneville, Tennessee, taken on August 3, 1875, three days after Johnson's death. The stereoview is numbered four out of a series of twelve taken by L. W. Keen, a photographer from Jonesboro, Tennessee, to form an interesting and comprehensive idea of Johnson's funeral.

This collection contains two undated black and white photographs. The first photograph is entitled "Road to Fountain City." The photograph depicts three horse and carriages traversing a wet and muddy road with two visible signs along the road. The second photograph, which appears on the other side of the first photograph, is entitled "Hot Springs, N.C." The photograph is taken from a high vantage point in the mountains and looks down on the community of Hot Springs.
