Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This collection contains a letter from Amos Guthrie to his father in New Rumley Township, Ohio written while Guthrie was stationed in Knoxville, Tennessee. Guthrie attacks Copperheads and specifically complains of New Rumley Township's history of voting for Copperhead officials. Guthrie recounts seeing General Scholfield, saying his hair is already tinged with grey although he is only 35 years old.
