Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This collection includes letters and a notebook of Samuel P. Johnson's, many of which detail his experiences during the Civil War. Many of the letters are written from Johnson to his wife Catharine and his children Mary, Charles (Charlie), and Margaret (Maggie) from towns throughout the southeast, mainly East Tennessee.
