Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: These land grants gave Thomas Coffman and his heirs land in Jefferson County, Tennessee. The first grant, number 17348, is for fifty acres north of the French Broad River, near the lands of McChristian and Matthews. It was entered on February 10, 1827, surveyed on August 4, 1829, and signed by Governor William Carroll on February 14, 1832.
