Scope and Contents Note From the Collection: This collection contains 46 photographs of Lower Egypt taken by Karl Herold in 1905. The photos concentrate primarily on modern Egypt - depicting railways, shipping, soldiers, market sellers and a public demonstration – as opposed to images of ruins from ancient Egypt. Throughout the photographs are the native inhabitants of Egypt but including the Bedouins, seen on their horses and camels, herding sheep and camels and often with large families.
