This collection contains the diary of Dr. Amos R. Garrison of Knoxville, Tennessee. Garrison's diary spans the years 1898 to 1902 with the bulk of the passages in reference to the people he met, the places he visited (including Chattanooga, TN; Louisville, KY; Salt Lake City, UT; and San Francisco, CA), and both his schooling and his teaching.

Abstract This collection consists of 55 photographs of African-Americans in the Knoxville, Tenn. area during the early 20th century. Many are of Dr. Charles S. Boyd, his dental office, and his family. Others include other individual or group portraits and school photographs. Most of the photographs are either mounted for framing or enclosed in the paper envelopes provided by the photographer. Abstract This collection consists of two diaries written by Dr. John Willard Hill when he was twelve years old and living in Knoxville, Tennessee. The contents span two calendar years, beginning on January 1, 1865 and ending on in December 31, 1866 with a gap between July 9 and December 31, 1865. Many of the entries address Hill's daily school lessons, visits from tutors and family friends, as well as domestic affairs like cleaning the horses and his mother’s new shoes.
