Drury M. Haddick Land Grant

Dry Goods Ledger Book

This collection houses one well organized ledger documenting the transactions of an unidentified dry goods store between 1850 and 1870. The entries include lists of cloth bought, records of whiskey barrels ordered and sold, and records of a large assortment of trinkets.

Duggan & Moon Account Book

This collection consists of one account book belonging to Duggan & Moon of Unionville, Tennessee. The account entries are dated from 1860-1876. A latter portion of the book was used to document an annual reunion (including names of attendees and minutes) of the pupils of W. E. Thompson in Unionville from 1927-1938.

Dunlap Family Papers

Abstract

This collection contains material related to the Dunlap family of Tennessee. Included is a typed copy of a letter written by Dr. J. G. M. Ramsey regarding his plans to author a book about the family; the roll for a club in Paris, Tennessee to which Dunlap family members belonged; a handwritten deed documenting J. H. Dunlap's purchase of land in Henry County; and a newspaper clipping describing the story of Ripley E. Dunlap, a "forty-niner" who left Paris in search for gold in California.

Durham Coal & Iron Co. Records

Abstract

The Durham Coal & Iron Co. Records, 1906-1929, contains a report by W. F. B. Berger on March 6, 1929, with a detailed evaluation of the Chattanoogan mines, timber reserves and their values, as well as of the geology of the company properties. Included are several past reports from 1926 thru 1928. Blueprints and a digest of Berger's report were found loose in the report and are listed as separate items in a separate folder.

This collection consists primarily of correspondence between Dwight H. Stuckey and World War II fighter aces John Alden Tilley, Daniel J. Zoerb, George Carpenter, and Gil Niceley. In these letters, the pilots recount their memories of their military service. Also included are signed biographical sketches of pilots Major General Ralph Gordon Taylor, Major Robert W. Moore, and Marion Franklin Kirby.

E. H. Rennolds Diaries

E. H. Rennolds maintained these two diaries while he was serving with the 5th Tennessee Infantry (CSA) in 1863 and 1864 during the Civil War. In them, he describes his service in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, including his participation in the battles of Spring Hill, Franklin, and Nashville.

E. S. Chesbrough Letter

Abstract

E. S. Chesbrough wrote this letter to H. M. Nelson, a civil engineer in Faytteville, North Carolina, from Knoxville, Tennessee on June 12, 1837. In it, Chesbrough describes spending the night with a local family in a small cabin, mentions his duties as a surveyor, and discusses some church matters. This collection also houses a typewritten transcript of the original letter.
