This collection documents the World War II service of Major Cortland A. Bassett. The collection includes correspondence, military documents, photographs, publications, newspaper clippings, and more that document his time with th 10th Armored Division in training and in the European Theater of War.

This collection consists of two letters that Union soldier Cyrus Foote, who was then serving with Company D of the 112th Illinois Infantry Regiment, wrote to his brother William from Camp Ella Bishop, Kentucky, in 1863.

This collection contains two letters from D. A. Fletcher to an individual addressed as "Kingsbury." The letters are dated November 16, 1853 and May 28, 1855. There are four sheets in total.

This collection houses a single letter from Daniel Davis to his brother. In it, Davis details his regiment's march from Nashville to Dechard, Tennessee (southeast of Tullahoma, Tennessee.) At that time, the 46th Pennsylvania was detailed to guard sections of the Nashville-Chattanooga Railroad.

This collection houses a letter written by Daniel Pontious on June 13, 1865 from Shell Mound, Tennessee to Hannah in Ohio. The letter concerns news of friends and family, the family farm, a college graduation that Pontious will be unable to attend, and the the Union Army's slow progress in mustering out troops following the Confederate surrender.

This collection features various military documents, photographs, and books from David F. Ross, a Lieutenant in the 5th Air Force deployed in the Pacific Theater during World War II.

A letter from David Farragut, signed "D. G. Farragut," to E. Caylus dated March 20, 1867. In it, Farragut expresses gratitude for receiving the Abraham Lincoln bronze medal for his achievements in Lincoln's administration.

The collection contains extensive correspondence and other material related to the career of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut from 1830-1870. Subsequent materials include correspondence from the Admiral's wife Virginia, his father George, and his son Loyall. This collection also contains genealogical information about the Farragut family as well as newspaper clippings and articles about the Admiral.

This collection consists of one letter by David J. Durand to his sisters, written February 21, 1864, describing the Federal Army's preparedness for a Confederate attack in Knoxville, TN.

This collection houses two letters from David Humphrey (signed D. W. H.) to Julia written from Union Headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, on November 26 and December 17 of 1862. The letters discuss life in camp, General Rosecrans' good performance, family news, news of the war in Tennessee and Virginia, food being sent by the family to camp, Humphrey's desire to return home, and his love for Julia.

This collection features correspondence between Sy Hyman and Dennis Coughlin as well as a collection of diary entries made by Hyman in 1946 from his World War II service.

This collection contains letters, sympathy cards, military science and tactics handbooks, and newspapers from Dewey Murphy's military service in Europe during World War II.

Dr. Henry Hayes, an army physician, wrote this letter to a friend in Vermont. In the letter, Dr. Hayes discusses the aftermath of the Fort Pillow Massacre.

This February 19,1864 letter by Private E. D. Bruce of the 8th Georgia Infantry informs of the "good health and fine spirits" of his army. Written to his family, he informs them of the happenings and current conditions of the war.

Earle Wright wrote these letters to his family in Cortland, New York in July and August of 1917. In them, he discusses his life at a training camp in Chattanooga, Tennessee during World War I. Most of the correspondence is addressed to E. R. Wright or Laura Wright but is meant for the entire family to read.

This collection contains two letters from Edgar Arthurs, one to his sister and one to his brother. The letters were both written from Columbia, Tennessee, while his unit was marching from Nashville, Tennessee to Athens, Alabama.

This collection consists of three letters written from Newburn, Tennessee, between December 4, 1917 and March 28, 1918 by Edgar Johnson of Company E of the 306th Ammunition Train (81st Division). The letters are addressed to Johnson's wife, Etta, and daughter, Lila, and discuss camp life, life at home, and the possibility of returning home for a visit.

This collection consists of 41 correspondences and commentaries by Edward G. Harris to his mother, grandmother, and grant aunt during his service in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.

This letter from Major General Edward Hatch to Secretary of War E. M. Stanton requests the promotion of Assistant Adjt. General Henry A. Colvin to the rank of Major.

This collection contains letters sent to Edward Richard Herman, Private First Class in the United States Naval Forces, by various family members, friends, and lovers while he was stationed at Guadalcanal and later the Ulithi Islands in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
