This collection consists of a 1853-1870 ledger book by Attwood from the Memphis, Tennessee area. Transactions involve the purchase of lumber, stone cutters, and sales of building lots. This collection also contains two loose receipts one of which is undated while the other is dated 1878.
This sales ledger records the transactions of lumber company R. L. and Co. between 1905 February 23 and 1906 February 15. Each record includes the names of the customers, the items they purchased, and the applicable prices.
This sales ledger, apparently from a lumber company, bears no identifying marks. A random sample of the customers listed includes Sam Smith of Burnevill (Kentucky), Calhoun Colored School, Bledsoe Lumber Co. in Salem, Illinois, Bradford Wholesale Furniture Company, Nashville Trunk Company, Federal Chemical Company, Miss Fannie Battle, American Snuff Company, and Granland Construction Company.
This notebook, maintained by Samuel S. Chapin of Cherry Corner, Tenn. (Henry County), contains information on flat boats, lumber, and other business affairs in the early 1840s.
These two ledgers, apparently compiled by a lumber company operating in Tennessee and shipping nationwide, date from August 7, 1900 to September 2, 1903. Among the most common entries are sawdust, freight, hickory, and cedar flooring.
