Morris Shean/Tennessee Militia Documents
Collection consists of four early militia documents from the Nashville area. Dated 1793 and 1794, the documents record the actions of Morris Shean, a soldier in Captain Joseph McElwrath's Company of Militia.

Muster Roll Regarding Bennett J. Cooper
This muster roll records that Bennett J. Cooper mustered into Company F of the 1st Tennessee Mounted Infantry (commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Abraham E. Garrett) at the rank of 1st Lieutenant on March 8, 1864 in order to fill an original vacancy. The document was officially approved at Carthage, Tennessee on March 21, 1864.
Myron M. Comstock Letter
This letter to Verness Williams documents recent activities of Myron Comstock's unit (11th Michigan Infantry Regiment) and speaks of his recent illness and homesickness.
N. E. Prentice Diary
N. E. Prentice's diary covers approximately seventy pages and dates from January through July of 1865. The entries discuss such topics as the foraging his unit has done, deserters, Union prisoners, African-American refugees, mustering out, Prentice's travel home, and his work after returning home. The diary also contains approximately seventeen pages of autographs from fellow soldiers and several pages of miscellaneous lists and notes.
Nashville and Florence Railroad Company Construction Cost Estimates
The first document in this collection is a bid from O. H. P. Bennett Engineers dated April 17, 1880 indicating that they could construct the proposed Nashville and Florence Railroad at a cost of $19,990. The second item is a bid from Chas. W. Brown dated May 15, 1880 stating that his organization could construct the line for $39,000.
