This collection consists of an invitation addressed to Harriett C. Roulstone to the wedding of Governor Sam Houston and Eliza Allen, who were married on January 15, 1829. Their courtship and marriage were both scandalously short, as Eliza left him a mere eighty days after their marriage.

This collection contains one letter written by Samuel Tate to an associate by the last name Gill about the Memphis and Charleston Railroad.

This collection houses materials documenting the murder of University of Tennessee graduate Sam Y. Parker by Judge James E. Fulton of Helenwood, Tennessee in 1906. In the second letter, written to his brother-in-law from McMinnville, Tennessee, Baker mentions having his pocket picked while swimming and describes Fourth of July celebrations.

This collection houses letters of recommendation for Samuel Boyd, correspondence to and from Samuel Boyd (including two letters he wrote while being held prisoner at Camp Chase, Ohio during the Civil War), genealogical notes, invitations, newspaper clippings, and resolutions on the deaths of Samuel and Isabella (Reed) Boyd.
