Davidson County Political Circular
Clement W. Nance had this circular printed during the campaign for circuit court clerk in order to respond to prejudicial statements being made about him by Major R.B. Turner. In the document, he recounts the events leading to Turner's abuse, lists the specific financial misdeeds he had uncovered over the past year, and gives a history of his own service to the county. At the bottom of the back side, someone has worked several arithmetic problems in ink.
DeWitt Clinton Senter Message
This small leaflet, entitled "Message of the Governor" presents the alarming conditions of the state penitentiary and requests the Tennessee Senate and House of Representatives take some definite and prompt action before they adjourn for the holidays. The alarming conditions were the result of overcrowding and immense indebtedness. It is signed in type by D.W.C. Senter.

In a July 21, 1849 letter to General George W. Gordon, Edmund Dillahunter of Middle Tennessee discusses a recent cholera epidemic as well as the local political scene. He expresses his dislike of secession and his fear that the rift over the slavery question will only escalate.

Essay on H. Clay Evans' 1894 Run for Governor of Tennessee
This collection contains one short essay on H. Clay Evans' run for governor of Tennessee in 1894. It mentions his opponent Walter Brownlow and Evans' asking that soldiers from the Civil War not be allowed to vote in the election for the Republican nomination.
F. B. Ragland Autobiography
This collection includes F. B. Ragland's autobiography, written in 1891 for the benefit of his children and to whom the work is affectionately dedicated. In it, Ragland discusses his ancestry, his immediate family, his work as a farmer and businessman, his service in the Tennessee State Legislature, his memories of the Civil War (including the emancipation of enslaved peoples), and his activities in retirement.

The Fred D. Thompson Papers (1993-2002) detail Thompson's career as a U.S. Senator from Tennessee from 1994-2002. Correspondence, notes, memoranda, reports, audio and video tapes, and many other formats of materials document the complete workings of the Thompson administration, both in Washington and in his state offices throughout Tennessee. Some material on Thompson's two Senatorial campaigns (1994 and 1996) is also included.
