This act, formally approved on March 11, 1879, changed the name of East Tennessee University to The University of Tennessee.

This collection houses publications, drafts, official papers, correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other materials documenting Andrew Holt's military service, tenure as President of the National Education Association, and term as President of the University of Tennessee. Issues Holt dealt with at U.T. include academic freedom, athletics, integration, U.T. Martin, student life, and finances.

The collection consists of a one page printed letter from Andrew M. Soule to James Maynard on August 27, 1904, discussing his sentiments about leaving the University of Tennessee faculty.

The University of Tennessee's School of Natural History and Geology awarded this certificate of proficiency with distinction to Angus E. Orr on June 8, 1887.

This collection houses an 1885 report card for Angus E. Orr and an 1887 Medal of the Editor of the Chi Delta Literary Society.

This collection is composed of approximately 150 sketches by Anna Catherine Wiley drawn during the early 20th Century.

This collection houses student records, correspondence, course descriptions, curricula, and other materials documenting the Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Tennessee between 1943 and 1945. Each of the student records are entered on Form No. 831 and show the student's full name, army serial number, home address, date of birth, classes taken, and grades earned.

This collection houses two scrapbooks compiled by Arthur G. Seymour documenting his time at the University of Tennessee. They include articles and mementos from University events, Kappa Sigma membership, and the many activities and honors of Seymour himself.

B.O. Duggan's papers are drawn from his files of reports and letters concerning education in Tennessee, which he kept while he was a professor at the University and a Commissioner of Education for the state. Items of particular interest include Duggan's Personal File as Commissioner, his education scrapbook (which contains articles about Tennessee education), and bound quarterly reports. Collection consists of three boxes divided into three series: Subject File, Scrapbooks, and Reports.
