Philip Hamer kept this typed diary during the controversy at the University of Tennessee over President Harcourt A. Morgan dismissing Professor J. W. Sprowls, allegedly because Sprowls had assigned a text discussing evolution entitled Mind in the Making. The manuscript also mentions Morgan's firing of Assistant Professor of Art Ada (Haun) Withers (1886-1978) on similar grounds.

This collection contains the papers of Judge Sue K. Hicks, one of the prosecutors in the Scopes Trial. Also contained within this collection are materials relating to the Ft. Loudon Association, Tennessee politics, and other of the judge's court cases.

This collection houses 104 photographs, two reel-to-reel audio tapes, and two cassette tapes (content is identical to the reel-to-reel tapes) documenting the Scopes Trial of 1925.
