John C. Gunn Circular
This eight-page circular, addressed to the voters of Knox and Anderson counties, provides a brief history of Gunn’s life with references to his character, as part of his campaign for the Tennessee House of Representatives against General Dunlap and Colonel Tunnel.
John W. Cleland Letters
This collection includes two handwritten letters by John Cleland, Union soldier during the Civil War, written to his family from outside Knoxville, Tenn. during February and March 1864.
John Watkins Letters and Poem
This collection consists primarily of two undated, fragmentary letters that John Watkins wrote during the Civil War. One is written on United States Sanitary Commission letterhead. These two items are accompanied by a poem entitled "The Union," which Watkins apparently authored.
John Williams Certificate and Plat Regarding Williamsburgh, Tennessee
Joseph A. Mabry Receipt
This collection contains a receipt to Joseph A. Mabry from Rolfe S. Saunders promising repayment of a loan. The receipt is dated August 22, 1870.
Kenneth Palmer Papers
This collection contains material collected during the excavation and archaeological research conducted of Fort Loudoun, TN in the 1950s and 1960s. In addition, there are a few documents from Knox County, TN from the late 18th century and the early 19th century concerning property and land ownership.
Knox County Court Bonds
These two documents (signed by William Blount) compel William McNamee, Thomas McGilton, and Samuel Hindman to appear at the session of the Knox County Court to be held on July 14, 1799. All three men were apparently summoned to serve on juries.
Knox County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions Bond
This bond (worth $500) guarantees that William Overstreet, James Davis, and Jeremiah Rogers will appear before the Knox County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions on October 30, 1797 to answer William and Phebe Tipton's charges of trespass and property damage.
Knox County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions Summons Regarding John Watson
This document instructs the Sheriff of Sevier County to summon John Watson to appear before the Knox County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions on July 31, 1797 to give testimony in the matter of John Frazier vs. Thomas Carnes.
Knox County Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions Writ Regarding Andrew Evans
This writ instructs the Sheriff of Knox County to locate John Evans (who assumed responsibility for Andrew Evans' affairs) and procure the $32.08 that he owes Daniel Prouel as the result of a debt and court costs. The Sheriff is to present the money at the next session of the Court so that it can be transferred to Prouel. A notation on the reverse indicates that Evans satisfied his obligation.

Materials include deeds to homesteads and acquired lands, personal notes, receipts, a newspaper subscription, citizenship papers (post-Confederacy), and a certificate from the Democratic National Convention for the Wilson campaign.
Nancy Miller Deposition
Nancy Miller gave this deposition to Charles McClung, Court Clerk of Knox County, as part of a lawsuit between Judith Miller (plaintiff) and John Smith (defendant). In it, Nancy Miller testifies that in 1798 Zachary Cox told her to get the money that he owed her from his store and that he would tell John Smith to let her have what she asked. The case was heard before the Knox County Superior Court on April 2, 1800, and Judith Miller was awarded $77.39, including $0.16 in court costs.
R. B. Purdom Letter
In this letter, R. B. Purdom asks Major John Childs about some deposits in favor of Robert Davis that were supposed to have been forwarded to Childs by way of William Bunch and Dr. Frost and then returned (apparently to Purdom) in Huntsville, Alabama. Since they have not been received, Purdom asks Childs to search for them and send them to Davis if they are found.
