This collection is the photograph album of Mary K. Barden. These are photographs of rural farmers, teachers, and missionaries in Tennessee from 1915 to 1925. These pictures were taken in Hartford, Tennessee and its surrounding areas.

This collection contains genealogical information, obituaries, correspondence, newspaper articles, diaries, legal papers, and ephemera concerning the family of Frank H. McClung (1828-1898), his children, and John W. (1859-1957) and Ellen McClung Green (1872-1956).

In this letter to LaReine Clayton, Milburn Divine provides Clayton with information about an inn that her aunt and uncle, Robert and Elizabeth Evans, once operated and discusses another inn in Rheatown, Tennessee. Divine includes photocopies of several chapters of a book by Esther Moreland Leithold entitled And This Is Our Heritage (1944) regarding the Evans' inn.

This collection consists of correspondence and speeches by Moses White documenting the history of East Tennessee and the University of Tennessee. Moses graduated from East Tennessee University with a degree in law in 1850 and was an elected member of the Board of Trustees at East Tennessee University in 1877.

This collection contains a single round paper tag from the Mountain View Hotel in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The tag includes a drawing of the hotel as well as the name of owner and manager A. J. Huff.

A letter written by Corporal Noble B. Wiggins on August 7, 1862 at the 42nd Ohio Infantry's Camp Virginia, located outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He describes foraging expeditions and his company's acquisition of mules, horses, and food as well as their losses in men.

The Norbert F. Riedl Collection includes research files on such topics as architecture, clothing and costume, cockfighting, food and cooking, games and recreation, legends, medicines and remedies, music, quilting, snake handling, and customs pertaining to marriage, divorce, death and burial. There is also material about the mysterious Melungeons of Hancock and Hawkins Counties and there is a group of tape recordings which relate to many of the file topics.

In an October 27, 1863 letter to his brother Clark, Pembroke Scott, a private with the 118th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, describes food rations and skirmishes near Loudon, Tenn.

This collection contains correspondence, legislation, photographs, newspaper clippings, and publications documenting the life and work of Philander Priestley Claxton.

This February 2, 1862, letter is from Phoebe Cross to her sister. In the letter, Cross describes her life and family in East Tennessee while her husband is at war.

This letter is written by Rosecrans to a doctor at Medical Department Gen. Orders No. 2 on July 15th, 1863. It discusses military politics, the occupation of Knoxville by Bragg, and well wishes.

This collection consists of 25 letters relating to Roswell and Nannie Kingsley, their family members, and some of their friends written from 1850-1885. The correspondence provides insights into East Tennessee during the Civil War as well as a look at ex-Confederate home life.

The Tate Springs Hotel Registers reflects the operations of the Tate Springs Resort near Bean Station, Grainger County, Tennessee under the ownership of the Thomas Tomlinson Estate. The collection primarily includes hotel registers and guest cards dated between 1923 and 1940, prior to when the hotel and resort closed in 1941.
