H. L. Rich Letter to Horace Thomson
This collection contains a letter from H. L. Rich in East Tennessee to Horace Thomson in Farmington, Connecticut. The letter is dated July 7, 1834. Rich asks Thomson and other old friends from Connecticut to continue to supply Rich's Sabbath School with supplies, such as school books, as well as monetary donations.

Henry Cherry Letters
The Henry Cherry Letters, 1864-1865, contain nine letters from Cherry, a Chaplain with the 10th Michigan Cavalry in the Civil War, to Amos Gould of Owosso, Mich., describing both military and civilian life in the Union Army during the Civil War. The majority of these letters were written from Knoxville, Tenn.
J. R. Payne Real Estate Ledger
This collection includes a ledger dated 1911 for J. R. Payne Real Estate as inscribed on the first page. The book includes information about sales, rentals, and clients of the East Tennessee-based company. Also included are some loose materials including notes, correspondence dating between 1912-1918, and company letterhead for "J. H. Payne, Farms Any Size in Any Part of East Tennessee, Timber, Mineral and Grazing Lands."
James Merrill Safford Correspondence
This collection contains one correspondence from James Safford. He writes about a distinguished botanist that came to measure the peaks of the Great Smoky Mountains, which are the highest in North Carolina and Tennessee. Safford goes on to note that they are the highest mountains east of the Mississippi River.
J.C. Vaughn Notice

This collection consists of nine letters and two printed bridge diagrams on silk regarding the rebuilding of the burned bridge crossing the Tennessee River at Loudon, Tennessee during the United States Civil War. In addition, the collection also contains two other Civil War era letters.
Malinda Harmon Relief Act
The U.S. Senate and House passed this act, giving Malinda Harmon almost $5000 in order to keep her land. Her husband, Jacob Harmon, and two of her sons had been caught by Confederate forces after burning a bridge for the Union Army at Lick Creek on November 8-9, 1861. They had acquired a debt in order to hire a lawyer, but were found guilty and hanged, leaving Malinda with five children and a mortgage.
