Abstract

The B. Carroll Reece Papers, 1921-1944, consists of letters and envelopes to or concerning George S. C. Slagle of Jonesboro, Tenn., or dealing with disabled WWI soldiers. It also includes a copy of the book about the contested Congressional election between Reece and O. B. Lovette in 1932.

Abstract This scrapbook consists primarily of clippings from such Tennessee newspapers as the Chattanooga News, the Knoxville Sentinel, the Nashville Tennessean, and the Memphis Press documenting Harry T. Burn's decisive vote to ratify the 19th (women's suffrage) Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Many of these articles discuss the significant influence of Burn's mother and fiancée on his ultimate decision.
