W. Lewis Wood Oral History
This folder contains the transcript of an interview with W. Lewis Wood, dated 3 August 2002, conducted in Memphis, Tenn., by Kurt Piehler and Nashwa Van Houts of the Veteran's Oral History Project. Wood discusses his childhood in Memphis, his experiences as an engineering student at the University of Tennessee, and his time serving in the US Navy and Army during World War II and the Korean War, respectively.
W. Neil Franklin Lecture Notebooks
This collection consists of two notebooks of lecture notes written by W. Neil Franklin during his tenure at the University of Tennessee. The notebooks are dated between 1922 and 1924 and feature notes about economics, government, European history, and United States history.
W. Stuart Evans Collection
The W. Stuart Evans Collection consists of one box of subject files and correspondence. The bulk of the materials include correspondence between Evans and such prominent University of Tennessee personalities as Edward J. Boling and Andy Holt.
Walter L. Newton Photograph Album
Walter L. Newton took these photographs of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus between 1902 and 1906. Among the subjects depicted are the Science Hall, the Chemistry Lab, and several views from the Hill. The album also includes a list identifying each photograph.
Walter Woodburn Hyde Papers
These materials, spanning 1895 to 1940, are from Walter Woodburn Hyde, noted academic, historian and archaeologist from New York. The items include newspaper clippings, a personal notebook, notes, photos, a letter, menu, pages from a book, index card, and bulletins and postcards from the travels of Hyde around United States and European universities and historical sites.
William H. Jesse Tribute
This collection consists of two copies of a memorial composed for William H. Jesse after his death in 1970. It includes a brief obituary, a tribute written by University of Tennessee President Andy Holt, and a tribute written by Jesse's Secretary Daphne Townsend.
