This collection houses ration books issued to the Luttrell, Walling, McClure, Dunwoody, Aucker, Johnston, and Goehring families of Knoxville, Tennessee and to the Bucklew family of West Virginia during World War II. Ration books one through four are represented in addition to ration tokens and wallets to hold these materials.

This collection documents Lyman Zellar’s wartime service in World War II with the 14th Armored Division. It includes "Recollections of World War II Years" from Zellar’s autobiography, a typed manuscript of approximately 80 pages. Zellar describes his service from training to active combat in great detail. Also included are two publications related to the history and activities of the 48th Tank Batallion from 1945.

This collection, documenting Lymon Van Winkle's World War II service, contains a copy of the publication "A Combat Diary of the 291st Infantry Regiment" and two photographs, one showing a group of soldiers loading a mortar and the other showing two soldiers next to road signs in German.

The M. B. Bibee Papers, 1942-1946, consist primarily of correspondence to Bibee during World War II, and letters of recommendation about Bibee. The collection also includes several poems written by Bibee, as well as Navy newsletters.

In this collection, M. E. Springer discusses his life as a non-combat soldier in World War II and his postwar work conducting soil surveys in Japan.

This collection contains a sketch by World War II U. S. Army veteran M. H. Kunselman of a battle scene in Belgium.

This collection consists of three letters, dated March 6, June 10, and June 17, 1943. All three were written to Mrs. Ruth Johnson of Atlanta from PFC M. M. Torres, Jr., who was stationed in Smyrna, Tenn., with the 47th Command Squadron during World War II. In the letters, Torres complains about his assignment and discusses routine actions.

This collection documents Mack Day's World War II military service in the European Theater of War. The collection contains correspondence, approximately 160 photographs, maps, souvenir cards, and military documents particularly from Day's time in France.

This collection houses military records documenting Major Lawrence S. Barker's service in the United States Marine Corps (1942-1946) and United States Marine Corps Reserves (1946-1964). The collection also includes military publications, photographs, postcards, correspondence, and ephemera from the World War II era.

This collection consists of a single Red Cross surgical inspector's scarf belonging to Margaret Dickson during World War II.

This collection features documents, news articles, and photographs from Marinell St. Clair Eldredge's participation in the 1945 Aviation Psychology Program Flight Project at the University of Tennessee. She was certified as a pilot for the U.S. Air Forces in 1945.

Collection includes 3 issues of a newsletter, Cobbie's Chatter, put together by World War II soldier Marion Cobb to provide updates to friends and family. Also included are two photocopied newspaper clippings.

The Mark Reardon Collection is composed of research regarding the Battle of Mortain (France) that Reardon assembled while writing Victory at Mortain: Stopping Hitler's Panzer Counteroffensive (2002). This material consists of unit reports, declassified orders, written interviews with survivors, and histories of the battalions involved.

This collection includes two items from Mary Delozier’s service during World War II as a nurse. It contains a Christmastime program and menu from an event at Kennedy General Hospital in 1943; names of officers and nurses, such as DeLozier, are included in the program. Also in the collection is a typescript form for authorized leave dated December 1945 at Fort Bragg; several service members are listed including DeLozier.

This collection contains papers, documents, and a scrapbook related to World War II veteran Mathias C. Helbach’s experience during the war in both the Mediterranean and European Theaters.

This collection documents the World War II service of Matt Chitwood and contains a letter, a photograph of Chitwood during his service, and a newsletter from USS Taylor. The letter, handwritten and five pages in length, was written in 1997 by Chitwood and includes some remembrances of the war and his time at the 83rd Field Hospital, particularly working with German POWs.

The Maude Brown Collection, 2004, contains a letter written by Maude Brown to relatives who gave her a book about Oak Ridge during World War II. The letter describes some of Brown's remembrances of life in Oak Ridge during World War II.

This collection consists of Maurice Park's personal papers, correspondence, military documents, military honors, and photographs from his service in World War II. Also available are materials concerning the commendation to Eastern Command on Sept. 22, 1944, and the 50th Anniversary celebration of V-E day in Moscow.
