John Worthman Memoir

This collection contains a single copy of John Worthman’s memoir of his World War II experiences as a medic with the U.S. Army. The memoir begins with Worthman’s enlistment in 1942, then follows him through basic training, his service overseas (particularly in France), and back home. Matt Chitwood Collection

Overview

This collection documents the World War II service of Matt Chitwood and contains a letter, a photograph of Chitwood during his service, and a newsletter from USS Taylor. The letter, handwritten and five pages in length, was written in 1997 by Chitwood and includes some remembrances of the war and his time at the 83rd Field Hospital, particularly working with German POWs.

This collection contains military documents, naval photos, correspondence, and more regarding Thurman E. Johnson's World War II military service. Included is “One Person's Experience in the Pacific Theater of Operations,” a four-page typed account of Johnson’s experiences during the war. Among the correspondence are excerpts printed from letters Johnson wrote in 1945 and copies of Johnson’s many return addresses during the war.
