William Conner Letter
This collection consists of a letter dated March 3, 1848 from General William Conner to President James Polk, written from Brownsville, Tennessee. Conner requests the appointment of his son, John Conner, as a captain in the U. S. Army. John was enlisted in the 4th regiment of the Tennessee Volunteers at the time this letter was written.
William Conner Letter
In an October 25, 1837 letter to J. W. Campbell in Jackson, Tenn., General William Conner, a promoter for the town of Ashport on the Mississippi River, writes of the town's success and future growth. He also tells of finding Native American remains.
William Cosgrove Letter
This collection is composed of a letter that William Cosgrove of the 1st Ohio Light Artillery Regiment, Battery G, wrote to his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Bowers, in Mount Vernon (Knox County) Ohio from Nashville, Tennessee on January 31, 1864. He writes of his cousin Charles's death in Memphis and his own battery's move to Nashville. Also, he speaks of conditions in camp, including a recent outbreak of smallpox and his personal troubles with rheumatism.

William D. Cotton Persian Gulf Command Photograph Album
This collection is an album of World War II photographs taken by William D. Cotton. He was stationed in Iran as part of the Persian Gulf Command from 1943-1945. The photographs document his tour in Iran as well as travels to surrounding areas including Iraq and Palestine. Along with photos of his fellow officers, there are depictions of local culture, carnivals, and trips he took with friends and colleagues.

William Derris Slide Collection
The Derris Slide Collection is composed of approximately 4400 slides from the 1940's through the 1960's of the Great Smoky Mountains region of Tennessee. William Derris was an amateur photographer and owner of the Derris Motel (later the Laughing Horse Inn) in Townsend, Tennessee, which he photographed at length and used the slides of those photographs in a slide show for the entertainment of his guests.

William Dunlap writes to his sister commenting on Confederate prisoners taken and expressing his hope that the Union Army controls Richmond, Virginia. He also comments upon his general well-being and his desire to know more about Nelson. The letter is dated May 10th, 1863 from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

William E. Bobbitt Memoir
This memoir, written in 1996, is William Bobbitt's account of his time fighting in the Pacific Theater during World War II. The manuscript traces his military career from his training with a National Guard Unit in 1941 to his discharge in 1945. William E. Gillenwaters Letter and Posters
This collection houses a letter and two posters documenting William E. Gillenwaters' work as deputy warden of the Tennessee State Prison in Nashville during the early 20th century. The letter is addressed to the Sheriff of Knox County and discusses three convicts, James Reed, J. D. Coleman, and Will Coleman. The two posters warn the public of two convicts at large, Martin Brophy, alias John Leonard (with photograph), and Marshall Ladson.
William E. VanAuken Letter
William E. VanAuken of Company D of the 107th New York Infantry wrote this letter to his sister and brother-in-law from Shelbyville, Tennessee on January 7, 1863. In it, he discusses the weather and mentions that the 145th N.Y. Volunteers have recently been disbanded, saying that "Their is one company here with us now. They we got up in New York. They are Bowery Boys..." The letter is fairly brief and includes the envelope.
