William Burden Letter to Jacob Peck
This collection features a letter from William Burden in White County, Tennessee to his cousin Jacob Peck in Stanton, Virginia. The letter is dated July 16, 1808 and concerns the death of Burden's grandfather and the managing of his estate by both Burden and Peck via the power of attorney.

In an October 25, 1837 letter to J. W. Campbell in Jackson, Tennessee, General William Conner, a promoter for the town of Ashport on the Mississippi River, writes of the town's success and future growth. He also tells of finding Native American remains.
William Cosgrove Letter
This collection is composed of a letter that William Cosgrove of the 1st Ohio Light Artillery Regiment, Battery G, wrote to his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Bowers, in Mount Vernon (Knox County) Ohio from Nashville, Tennessee on January 31, 1864. He writes of his cousin Charles's death in Memphis and his own battery's move to Nashville. Also, he speaks of conditions in camp, including a recent outbreak of smallpox and his personal troubles with rheumatism.
